|
On May 6th, 2006 Central California Off-Road Cyclist received the 2005-2006 Trail/Greenway Project Merit Award at the 21st California Trails and Greenways Conference in Agoura Hills, CA. CCORC was recognized for its efforts in constructing the Big Sandy Bridge on the San Joaquin River Trail. The conference and awards dinner was attended by Daniel Himes, John Marquez, Mike Bloom and Mark Holland. On Saturday evening at the awards dinner the California Trails and Greenways Foundation had a presentation showing pictures of the project and read a brief description of the work that was involved. During the presentation of the award the announcer stated that the judges were so impressed with the size and complexity of the project that they felt it was more like a major public works project in lieu of a volunteer trail project.
